Building Blocks

Christina Robinson

Head Coach
Amanda Aguilar

Four years, removed from an appearance in the regional finals the Mavs look to rebuild. Off to an 0-3 start (see McNeil's schedule and results) versus some salty competition in Dripping Springs, Victoria and Marble Falls the McNeil Mavericks were excited about getting that first win under their belt in the opening game of the Greater Austin Tourney against Hyde Park. Coach Aguilar said, "Drip was really tough and more than we could handle right out of the gates but they always have a good program. You schedule tough so that your kids get better. We have a young team and we are even starting a freshmen so we'll get better as the season progresses."

Christina Robinson is one of the reasons the Mavs feel good about the direction they are headed. Christina is one of the teams main offensive threats and leads her team in assists & steals. (see stats)

We asked coach Aguilar what makes Christina such an important part of the Mavs? Coach responded, "Robinson is a returning junior point guard and the right person to run the offense for us. As a sophomore she scored 10 pts a game and was one of our best passers. She is a real leader on the floor and I expect that in the long run she will prove to be a D1 level player."

#20 Power Forward
Shelby Conklin (Sr)

#24 Alex Bomar (Jr.) Guard

#40 Center
Avrianna Henry

#12 Kelsi Bodin (Jr.) Guard

Erianna Garner is "the little engine that could" that every team needs to be successful. She never seems to stop working, plays hard, has her head up and always finds herself in the middle of the action. We asked caoch Aguilar about her sophomore workhorse and she said, "Erianna is a very intense competitor whose versatility is crucial to our plans. She can spell Christina at the point, she can play the two and can even drop down in the paint and bang with trees. She is only a 10th grader and yet she plays like a seasoned vet."

#22 Erianna Garner

#10 Forward
Mary May (Jr.)

The Mavericks top defender is May who finds herself up against much larger players under the boards but she tries to make up for it with tenacity. May sees the floor well and is one of those players that lifts everybody up by how hard she works. Coach Aguilar loves her effort and court sense.

#11 Brianna Timourian

Only a freshmen #11 Brianna Timourian finds herself starting at shooting guard and is leading McNeil in scoring (as of Nov 21). Brianna has an excellent jump shot and a kinetic energy that creates scoring opportunities. Coach Aguilar says, "The freshmen has impressed me with her hard work on and off the court and she simply gets better every second she plays. Bottom line is she gives her team 100% all the time."

Timourian cuts to the basket.

The McNeil Mavericks under the mentorship of coach Aguilar are headed back in the right direction. We at TexasGirlsBasketball.com wish the Mavericks a great 2010 campaign.
