Birth of a Dynasty

Lacee Logan and the Nettes
look for back to back coronations!
| Nettes Head Coach Jason Cooper says, "Down by 15 or up by 25 I can see in their eyes that intense desire to win and that confidence that they will NOT be defeated. It is an amazing feeling as a coach." |
 |
| Coach Cooper has already done more in his short career at Sudan than most basketball coaches experience in a career. And it is unlikely to end with one title, in fact, Sudan has to be the state champion from '09 that is the most likely to repeat this season. They obviously lost some key players to graduation and transfers but this has not effected their dominant play. It is likely that in 10 years we will be looking back at a string of Sudan championships! |
| Senior post #21 Lacee Logan is at the core of the 2010 Sudan Nettes,
Coach Cooper says, "Lacee has put in countless hours of hard work in the gym and weight room, now all of that hard work is paying off.
The thing that stands out most about Lacee to me is her humility. You never hear her boast about awards or accolades she receives. Lacee is an incredibly hard worker and spends so much time in the gym on her own, shooting and preparing herself for the next game. It is rare to find a player who is willing to push herself like Lacee does. We are fortunate to have several like her on our team right now. Lacee has dreamed of playing college basketball since she was old enough to hold a ball in her hands and I am so excited that she has realized that dream having signed with West Texas A&M. Her dedication to the sport and her team here at Sudan has been unsurpassed and we are looking forward to the playoffs with her at the helm." |

Lacee can do it all for the Nettes. She is the team's leader, a great shot blocker and can shoot from anywhere on the court. |
 |
| Senior Point guard #31 CeCe Williams is the quaterback of the Nettes. She knows when to push the ball and how to adjust offensively to get her team in the best position to take advantage of what the defense is giving her. Coach Cooper says, "CeCe has developed into one of the premier point guards in the state and has signed to play with Wayland Baptist University. Lacee & Danielle Logan and CeCe Williams have been tremendous for us this year and we relied on them for so much throughout the season. " |

| Coach Cooper says, "We have learned so much from our losses about shot selection, the importance of rebounding for 32 minutes, and also we have learned how to handle that adversity and pressure when you are down in a big game. We have had several games this year that we were trailing at half time or late in the game and found ways to fight back and win because of our experiences in those losses. The game that stands out to me was our loss to Lubbock Trinity before Christmas. We had beaten them by nearly 30 the second game of the year and walked into that game with a lack of respect and a false sense of confidence. They took us to school in that game. Every bad habit we had at that point in the season was exploited. They out rebounded us, had fewer turnovers, and shot a much higher percentage than we did. After that game we broke down that video, had a 6 am practice, and fixed a hundred mistakes. We turned around that Friday and beat a very good Plainview Lady Bulldog team in OT. The Trinity game was definitely the turning point of our season." |

Coach Cooper continued, "We have such great team chemistry and the girls fight so hard for each other out there. It seems that everyone comes into our games with the idea to stop one or two kids but I have to say that Steinbock, Black, Gonzales, and V.Williams have stepped up the past 15 games and have themselves become forces to be reckoned with. In this group we have 3 of our top 4 three point shooters, 2 of our top 4 rebounder's, our leader in steals, and a combined 85% from the free throw line. These guys are also combinding for 25 points per game. They have really made it hard on other teams when we are on offense not to mention the tenacity of these girls defense." |

Coach Cooper loves what he sees in Joe Lombard's Canyon Eagles saying, "Canyon, no doubt was the best team we have played this year. What did they do that impressed me??? Everything! They are so well rounded and so disciplined. On offense we couldn't even get beyond the first or second pass, come to think of it I don't know if we could even screen them? On defense, we really worked hard but no matter what we tried they had an answer and got the shot they wanted to get. Everyone said that they were going to be down this year but we have played them the past three years and this is in my opinion their best team in that time. We have played some great teams with some of the best coaches around this year but there is just something special about the program that Coach Lombard has created." |
| The Sudan Nettes are like the perfect bud on the vine, a new dynasty awaking to their own greatness. It isn't a coincidence that coach Cooper gushes when talking about what he sees in the Canyon squad. It clearly is an indication of what he is attempting to grow right in his own backyard. A program that the entire state points to and chirps, "There look at how they do it, that's what we want to be doing." |

| Coach Cooper says, "In the past I have coached teams that had good chemistry on the court but weren't necessarily great friends outside of basketball. But I have to say that this group of girls are very special in that regard. I don't think they do much outside of school or sports where one of their teammates isn't attached to their hip. They love each other and it shows in everything we do. Every coach has seen times when one kid gets in trouble at practice for loafing and some of the other kids are obviously happy that she is in trouble, it is just human nature in a group for that to happen. This group is a rallying type of group. If someone is down or messing up they are there for them. If someone is having to run extra or do push ups then they all will do it without a second thought. I think that is the most special ingredient that this team has. These kids also have finished the past two years in the State Championship game and the past three years in the Regional Tournament. Only our senoirs have experenced not making it to Austin in their High School Careers. These kids expect to make it and they know how hard they must work to get there. Because of these experiences they have a different swagger about them. Nothing Seems to phase them. When they walk on the court they have a "respect" for their opponent but absolutely no "fear" of them." |

We at TexasGirlsBasketball.com wish the Sudan Nettes
the best as they try to get back to Austin for the 3rd time in a row!
