The Cardinals boast one of the best one-two combinations
in the state with Odyssey Sims And Alexis Jones
| Irving MacArthur Coach Suzie Oelschlegel says, "If we are going to get through this tough region to earn a trip to Austin, we have to take one game at a time, play consistent offense and defense, and continue to stay focused. Our one loss to Cedar Hill may have actually helped us in showing the weaknesses that we needed to correct. I will always remember this group for the caliber of basketball they bring to the court and the fact that they all love the game!" |

| Skyline Head Coach Coach Casandra McCurdy says, "We need to stay focused, stay humble, stay hungry and hope for a little luck along the way. When this season comes to a close, I will always remember their drive, determination and cohesiveness. They have been a hard working group and also a fun group."
Georgetown Head Coach Coach Rhonda Farney says, "To make it to Austin, we need to stay healthy, play good defense and rebound well, have fun, and have some luck. This team loves their school and community and each other. They are very unselfish."
DeSoto Head Coach Coach Larry Goad says, "We have to play with discipline, heart and composure. Some of our earlier losses made us tougher. The girls feel the only team that has beaten us is actually ourselves, and I like that attitude." |

5A Region 3

Courtney Williams and the North Shore Mustangs
will have a battle on their hands.
Hightower Coach Deborah Mize says, "We have to take each game one game at a time, and not look too far in advance. On top of that, we have to limit turnovers and continue to improve our free-throw percentage if we plan on advancing deep into the playoffs, and most of all play as a team. I think the lost to Dulles was a blessing in disguise. It was a wake up call to know just how important each and every district game is for your placing in the playoffs. It taught our team a lot about who we are, and I have been very impressed with how the girl’s have responded and bounced back since the loss to Dulles. This year’s team is different than any other team I’ve coached here at Hightower before, in the fact that we have such a deep-rotation. From the starters to the last player off the bench all of these girl’s have contributed to the success of our program this year. In year’s past it seemed that we relied on one or two players, but this 2009-2010 season has come down to team success from all player’s in a Hightower uniform."

| North Shore Head Coach Coach Allison Campbell says, "We need to be consistent and focused. I do believe our tough schedule has helped. Our losses have opened our eyes to some things and reminded us what we need to focus on. Our team can be dangerous, but our lack of leadership at times has hurt us. " |

5A Region 4

Len'Nique Brown and the SA Wagner Thunderbirds
look like the top dog in region 4.
SA Wagner Head Coach Coach Andrea Camacho says, "To get to Austin we have to keep doing what we have been doing.....FOCUS on each opponent but mostly on our team play!....Keep intensity high and practices highly competitive. From the beginning of the season, I was thinking the best 3 teams in our region were Wagner, Jay and Pflugerville. And it just might turn out that the three of us are fighting for Austin. Our losses to Georgetown and North Shore were to two very good teams and I always feel a loss to a good team gives us motivation to pick ourselves up and get back to basics and business. It was early in the season and I feel we have learned from that and have improved since then. When this ride is over I'm really going to miss my seniors!....Especially Len’Nique Brown!...Never in my 23 years of coaching have I coached such a talented athlete, that has such drive and passion for the game. She’s not only an outstanding athlete but an extraordinary young lady. She is the reason from day one as our starting point guard her freshman year that we are currently in the position we are at! We have not lost to a San Antonio team since January 2007. She was the driving force her sophomore year we went to state! I believe she does not get the credit she is due, She is a McDonalds All-American nominee and I pray to God she will be selected, these young ladies have a four year career record of 128-13. We won district 3 times in a row, all undefeated championships! Who does that?!...That’s the accomplishments of our 6 seniors! Len’Nique Brown, Chelsea Solis, Michelle Rodriguez, Dakota Ortega, Janine Cardenas and Ashley Catlett! Gonna miss'em!"

| CC King Head Coach Coach John Reyes says, "I believe we have to play smarter, especially on the defensive end of the court. We are going to run into some very athletic teams and we have to be the smarter team in those games. San Antonion Jay is playing really well right now, and so is New Braunfels. Our team has been able to overcome a lot of adversity throughout the year and still comes out on top in the majority of our games." |

| SA Jay Head Coach Coach Mike Floyd says, "We will continue to work hard, and practice very hard to make sure that we are prepared to take on any opponent that we may face. Our goal at the beginning of the season to take it one game at a time to make sure that we stay focused. The losses to King and Wagner definitely made our team realize that we had a little more work to do if we want to achieve our goal of winning a district championship, Regional Championship, and making it to State. We have already clinched the district championship, but we have unfinished business to take care of. This year's team has a very positive attitude, and is very focused on reaching goals. A lot of focus and determination is very helpful when the majority of the team is underclassmen." |
